The Harbor of Arrival

You always the harbor and I the light to the right.

The wet quay and the flash upon the water...

Because I love you and I love you."

Odysseus Elytis, The Monogram, Section II (translated by Jeffrey Carson and Nikos Sarris, Green Integer, 2004)

A few words from me

I was on the ferry to Naxos late at night... just before midnight. Our stop was the port of Paros, and as always, I was on the deck with my camera in hand, looking out over the harbor. People boarding and disembarking... It’s always beautiful to observe people at ports and stations. Joy, sadness, relief, discomfort... a mix of emotions.

And then... you find yourself right in front of this magical scene: the reunion of two people who clearly longed for each other deeply.

The photo isn't of high quality, but for me, it’s a favorite shot that definitely has a special place in my journal and in my heart!
