The Poet's Form Sculpted in Wood
The Poet's head, with care, with pain,
from the simple, humble wood I carve,
and within the lines of his face I recognize
a memory that time cannot bend.
C. P. Cavafy, Hidden Poems (Written between 1877-1923) -
Poem "Of the Artist", Published in Complete Poetical Works of C. P. Cavafy, Iambos Publishing.
