The Shadows of the Café
At the edge of the table, in a corner,
the old man sits and looks down,
with the silence of years in his white hair,
and memories move around him like shadows
C. P. Cavafy, Poem "An Old Man" (1897), translated by Edmund Keeley and Philip Sherrard.
